    William Frank Buckley Jr., an American writer, ideologist, and founder of the popular political magazine "National Review," was born on November 24, 1925, in New York City.

    He was the sixth of ten children in a family of Irish descent. As a young boy, Buckley moved with his family to Connecticut and then attended school in Paris, where he studied English, Spanish, and French. It was during this time that he developed a passion for sports, horseback riding, hunting, skiing, and writing about his interests and their significance in his life.
